VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland

VTT is one of the leading RTOs in Europe with an over 75-year track record in solving scientifically and via technology global challenges and turning them into opportunities for the better of society and companies.

VTT is a non-for-profit governmental research organisation that has over 2100 employees, 440 patent families and extensive research infrastructure from lab to pilot scale. The infra covers an extensive range from lab to pilot scale and is coupled with analytics and characterisation possibilities. VTT has excellent laboratory and pilot scale facilities for the preparation of sustainable regenerated cellulose fibers and films as well as for the thermomechanical processing of plastic.

Their role in PESCO-UP

VTT, PESCO-UP coordinator, drives technology development in multiple work packages. This includes imaging methods and machine learning algorithms for material identification, raw material characterisation, and CO/PES separation using Biocelsol technology.

VTT also plays a key role in developing processes for utilising cellulose and polyester fractions in regenerated fibres and films and demonstrates upcycling of CO-PES blend textiles.

They contributes to techno-economic assessment, sustainability evaluation, market and policy analysis, dissemination, fostering market uptake , and results dissemination.
