Centexbel-VKC is a collective research and technical center that aims to reinforce the competitive position of the textile & plastic converting companies. To fulfil this mission, Centexbel-VKC offers an extensive range of services to the industry, including research & development, testing, certification, consultancy, and training.

Centexbel-VKC employs 180 enthusiastic, highly educated men and women. Through continuous innovation in process and products, Centexbel-VKC’s R&D ranges from basic research to applied research; always keeping in mind the industrial needs and opportunities. Sustainability is a common thread in our activities; especially in our research strategy, which is implemented by recycling materials, focusing on resource efficiency and environmentally friendly materials and processes.

The research groups Functional Thermoplastic Textiles and Plastic Characterisation, Processing and recycling (PCPR) is focussing on material characterization, identification of properties and processability, valorisation of (bio)polymers, (eco-friendly) functionalization and polymer recycling, including traceability and identification of waste streams, blending, delamination and separation of materials, extraction processes and compatibility… In addition, Centexbel-VKC has the know-how, knowledge and equipment to guarantee the REACH conformity of the materials.
